Winnipeg police are cracking down on distracted driving with a new project!
There is a new pilot project where officers are riding Winnipeg Transit to catch distracted drivers.
So yes, police are actually on transit buses looking at different cars to catch you while you are preoccupied. If a driver is distracted, they will send the information to a nearby officer.
Honoured to work alongside @winnipegtransit bus operators today. Thanks for your professionalism and commitment to our community. #StaySafe #WPSTraffic pic.twitter.com/WEDITQ9r6a

On Thursday, police tested out the project and apparently, there were several tickets issued.
Winnipeg Transit is totally for this new project! They believe it’s about more than just ticketing distracted drivers, and actually helps with bus riders safety.
