Yesterday, three HUGE albums turned six years old!
June 18th, 2013 was a big day for hip-hop heads. Three BIG albums dropped that really made a mark in the music world.
Mac Miller released his album called “Watching Movies with the Sound Off.” This was a very out-of-the-box album. It was much different from his typical “Mac Miller sound,” and really showcased his creative ability. There were some wicked guest appearances from Earl Sweatshirt, Ab-Soul, Action Bronson, Schoolboy Q, Jay Electronica and Tyler, the Creator and more. Mac also primarily handled the production.

J. Cole also released his album titled “Born Sinner”. This was J.Cole’s second album, and no one really knew what to expect, but hip-hop fans LOVED it and still consider it a favourite. Guest appearances include Miguel, Amber Coffman, Jhené Aiko, James Fauntleroy, Bas, TLC, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent. The production was mainly ran by J.Cole himself with singles like “Crooked Smile”, “Forbidden Fruit” and “She Knows”. Born Sinner climbed to number one in its third week and the album has since been certified platinum.

Last, but not least… Kanye West dropped his album called “Yeezus”! This was Kanye’s sixth album, and it was easily one of his more experimental projects. Kanye is NOW known to release rather “strange” “out there” music, but this was the first time we really heard it from him. It used different samples, and featured artists like Travis Scott, Kid Cudi and Frank Ocean. Fans were very split on the album, but it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Personally, I dig it.
