Hopper and Gonzo, two goats who have been living on Goat Island near Steep Rock, Manitoba, might be saying goodbye.
Tons of kayakers, paddlers and campers have made the trek out to see the two residents and their owner, Peter Hofbauer, never realized what a tourist attraction they’d become.
But there have been a few locals and cottagers who are not happy with the pair have complained to the Province. It started from a public complaint that Manitoba had addressed other unauthorized uses of Crown land in the area but was allowing the goats to remain without permission. Now if Hofbauer doesn’t receive permission by July 31st, the goats will be removed.
“We will definitely see a hit.”
An online petition called Save the Steep Rock Goats has been created and as of 2:30pm JUly 25th, had 793 signatures.
