Lego tried to be more green, but had to cancel their plans for a very legitimate reason that might make you question a lot of the green initiatives lately…
Lego has now backed out of its plan to start creating blocks out of recycled materials (plastic water bottles to be specific).
After trying to figure out a feasible and environmentally friendly way to manufacture Legos this way, they discovered the operation to do so would increase the company’s energy usage by intensive carbon changes to their manufacturing process and it wouldn’t be in their best interest. They are still trying to experiment to become more eco-friendly by 2032.
