Helping the environment is as easy as cooking your next meal.
You’d think with the packaging and delivery involved with the door to door services it would make our carbon footprint larger than heading to the grocery store but turns out convenience wins.
A study by the University of Michigan found that the carbon dioxide emissions tied to the average grocery store meal were two kilograms higher than those linked to most pre-packed options.
What’s the biggest difference? Meal kits prevent food waste.
- Grocery store meals have less packaging per meal but more food has to be purchased and that leads to higher household food waste.
It’s also more efficient for one truck to deliver multiple meals than it is for multiple drivers to make a trip to the store.
