An end has come after protests across the nation lasting weeks and resulting in the federal government implementing the use of the Emergencies Act in order to clear protesters from blocking roadways, border crossings and disturbing both residents and business in the areas they occupied.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has now formally revoked the use of the law. In a press conference, Trudeau said this to reporters:
“Today, after careful consideration, we’re ready to confirm that the situation is no longer an emergency. Therefore, the federal government will be ending the use of the Emergencies Act,”
Once the Governor General officially signs off on the removal of the Emergencies Act, the state of emergency will also end.
