On Friday at 6 pm THOUSANDS gathered at the Manitoba Legislative Building.
On Friday, the Justice 4 Black Lives rally took place which demanded change and equality.
The speeches were about 2 hours long and had a moment of silence in memory of George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis on May 25th.
Many people spoke including Sandy Deng, a community organizer from Winnipeg’s Sudanese community, Kayla Fernandes “Poet. Activist. Hardcore vocalist. Angry Black Queer.” And more.
After the speeches wrapped up, the massive group headed down to The Forks, chanting ‘Black Lives Matter’ through downtown.
Winnipeg Police were happy to report that there were no incidents.
Tip of the cap to all those involved with tonight's #JUSTICE4BLACKLIVESWINNIPEG rally. You've shown the world what a peaceful event looks like while raising awareness for an important cause. We have no incidents associated with this event to report.
