It’s a Flight Fight.
So this all starts when WestJet announces they’re refunding people’s fares for cancelled flights.
Effective Monday, November 2, we will begin to provide refunds to guests whose flights were cancelled by WestJet as a result of COVID-19. Learn more – https://t.co/PSV4bxcYn0 pic.twitter.com/97939lpSlD

And people seemed pretty stoked about that.
(To be honest, people really just went on Twitter to vent and demand their refunds immediately.)
BUT…in a plot twist ideal for this, the Year of our Lord 2020…
…the competition got a little salty.
Misleading statement! @WestJet is just now catching up to our policy to refund refundable fares. We have already refunded over $1.2 Billion in refundable fares to date.

Air Canada! Shots fired!! We now take you live to footage of the AC brass when they pushed “Send” on that tweet:
Anyways. It wasn’t long before WestJet clapped back, in the most polite, WestJet way possible:
Let’s clear the air. We're offering refunds for guests if we cancelled their flight. Even the lowest cost tickets will be refunded to original form of payment if WestJet caused the cancellation.

Friendly…still a little bit of shade.
It’s worth noting that Air Canada also sent the original tweet out in French (bilingual country FTW) and WestJet clapped back there, too.
Clarifions les choses! Nous offrons des remboursements pour nos invités si nous avons annulé leur vol. Même les billets les moins couteux pourront être remboursés si le vol a été annulé par WestJet.

Is there an election nobody told us about?
Anyways, the two had better squash the beef.
Nobody wants this to escalate to the next level:
