Here in Manitoba…we’d have picked “Fundamentals”.
In what should come as a shock to nobody…Collins Dictionary has picked their “word of the year” for 2020:

This is due, in part…to it’s usage.
In 2019…there were 4,000 “recorded instances” of the word.
In 2020…that number spiked to 250,000.
(Which, BTW…is roughly a 6000% increase)

In total…7 of the top 10 words for 2020 were pandemic-related:
– Lockdown
– Coronavirus
– Social Distancing
– Self-Isolate
– Key Worker
– Furlough
