REAL ISSUES IN THE WORLD!
From NY Post:
Netflix, the Scrooge of Christmas 2020?
A blogger is sure of it after the streaming service ditched instrumental holiday tunes as the soundtrack for its popular holiday video, “Fireplace for your Home,” which replicates a crackling yule log on the TV screen.
In a post Friday, The Mary Sue’s Jessica Mason compared the new background music to Muzak.
“The new Fireplace for Your Home music is, in a word, terrible. It’s like something you would hear in an orthodontist’s office waiting room,” Mason wrote. “It’s weird and most of it isn’t even recognizable as holiday music! Why?! I want some gentle carols, not elevator jazz!”
Mason guesses Netflix made the switch because of “a music rights issue,” which she understands but still isn’t happy about.
“It’s possible that maybe I jumped the gun on this and Netflix will switch in some good or decent tunes with their Yule log before the holidays really get started.”
