After nearly a year of working on a vaccine to protect us against Covid-19. Lockdowns, Shutdowns and a lot of heart ache… the Pfizer vaccine has been approved by Health Canada and will start being administered this week!
It will be a little scarce as every province tries to get their hands on them in the beginning though; In Manitoba, we will initially get 900 doses and they will be used to treat front line health care workers first. We are confirmed to be getting over 249,000 vaccines in the province between now and March 31st, 2021.
They will be distributed to those who are most at risk: senior citizens in long-term care homes and assisted living facilities, adults 80-years-old and older, and adults at risk in remote or isolated Indigenous communities.
