It was announced a number of weeks ago that a new special season of Sex And The City was coming back without Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones) and there was tons of speculation about how they’d get rid of her character… does Samantha move back to L.A? Will they replace her with someone new… like him?
Well, HBO Max’s chief content officer Casey Bloys has shared that the writers are not trying to redo Sex And The City and that the story is very much about women in their 50’s dealing with what people deal with in their 50’s.
“Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave,” Bloys says. “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life.” “They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York,” Bloys continues. “So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.”
There are still a ton of fans saying they should rename the series since all 4 characters will not be returning, and that they will not watch without Samantha Jones.
