It may be February and still remarkably cold…but that may not matter.
A week after The Forks shut down their section of the Nestaweya River Trail on the Assiniboine River, there have been more and more reports of Winnipeggers going through the ice.
The Shellmouth dam affects water levels on the Assiniboine and was opened twice recently, sending slushy water on its way downriver toward @TheForks. Be wary of the Assiniboine! More than one report of people falling in up to their knees or worse.

With water making it’s way down from the Shellmouth Dam, the Assiniboine has become a slushy mess with a high potential to fall through.
Use your best judgement when using the waterways in the city!
