Happy St Paddy’s!
In one of the longest-running St Patrick’s Day traditions in North America…Chicago has once again dyed their Chicago River!
This is how Chicago turns their river green for St. Patrick's Day.
They have a "secret recipe" for the dye and use three boats to spread it — the first two boats dump 40lbs of the dye in the river & the third boat mixes it up.
It stays green for 24 to 48 hours. pic.twitter.com/ZOOoG5ZvY1

The tradition, which began in 1962, sees the city use a “secret formula” powder that dyes the river green for roughly 2 days.
