Tattoo artists may never be able to work the same again after a photographer found an image they shot tattooed on someone by Kat Von D.
Von D did not ask for permission to tattoo this copywritten piece and while she insists she created a transformed version of the photo, the courts ruled that the likeness of the subject, Jazz great Miles Davis looked too similar to the original photo.
This was a piece Von D allegedly did not get paid for as it was tattooed on a friend at no cost, however the photographer of the original image, Jeffrey Sedlik has gone forward with a lawsuit nonetheless.
This could have enormous consequences for tattoo artists world wide, especially those who specialize in portraits.
